Dire Needs Timeline
« on: July 28, 2022, 06:45:17 am »
Hello, some of you may have seen my previous post.  Yes I read all the SSA rules on Dire Needs and I meet multiple dire needs requirements.  My lawyer had me write a letter to review and it was submitted to my hearing office on Monday.   How long does it generally take for them to determine yes this is dire needs and we need to expedite a decision?   I couldn't find that information anywhere.

Thank you.

To note this is AFTER a second ALJ hearing we have had 2 hearings over 14 months.   I haven't had a decision from an ALJ yet.

Usually Dire Need only helps in getting a earlier hearing date. It may or may not put your case at the front. If it does and you are approved. You still have to wait for your case to go back to SSA then to the processing center. This can take 30-99 days or longer. I do not mean to discourage you but you need to have a Plan B.
