Still Waiting for ALJ hearing
« on: July 20, 2022, 03:44:03 pm »
If anyone has had a hearing scheduled recently, how long did it take? My first one was 5-6 months after they received my request for hearing. My new app has been sitting at request for hearing and no info.

Its at step 3 of 5 under hearing on ssa site. It just stares an ALJ is reviewing your appeal
And will schedule a hearing if necessary.

Anyone? Im pulling my hair out here. Im in CA if that helps

If there is enough evidence for a Fully Favorable Decision. You will be approved without a hearing. This is the exception and not the norm. How long it takes for a hearing to be scheduled depends on how busy they are. Some areas are busier than others. It is also important to remember a lot of people take their vacations this time of year. In addition offices and businesses are still dealing with Covid. Some close for several days when a certain number of employees test positive. These are a few possibilities that make the wait longer. On the other hand, the office might be busier than they were when you filed your first appeal. All you can do is wait

I hate being utterly powerless over this whole process. It just baffles me that both my cases are stuck sitting. The second one coming up on 6 months waiting for hearing date and my remand was granted in April on other case and when I call they know absolutely nothing. I know I just have to wait, but I became disabled in 2018 and because of a really bad lawyer its added over two more years to my case AND I have to go through the stress of yet another hearing. Im so frustrated now and lawyer saying I should have been approved already.

I figured if anyone had an ALJ hearing recently they could give an estimate of how long it took from recon to hearing. I know its coming up soon, and no guarantees of approval, but the mental
And financial stress of this is just awful. If I could have worked I wouldnt be sitting here 4 years in still fighting for my small but much needed benefit
