Medical CE DONE!
« Reply #4 on: April 07, 2022, 10:13:57 am »
Hi everyone, I'm done with the medical portion, I think it went ok, had plenty of Neuro checks, no knee x-rays which I'm surprised about.  Nurse was very nice but the front office staff is another story. The provider was nice as well.  He was very indepth, went as far back as my tonsillectomy as a child!!  He asked for all of my surgical history, medical and touched on my family history of mental illness which is significant.  Took my vitals, eye exam, and my BP was high. He asked about my meds, and I had them with me but he just wanted the list. The only thing negative was the end!! And if it were not for this forum, I really would have started to cry. I remembered what I have read by alot of ppl on here stating " the CE'S, you cannot read into them because what they say and what they write are 2 different things".  Well ppl, he stated as he was straightening up my paperwork, " denials are just part of the process".  Gee thanks that's just what I wanted to hear LOL, but I was able to just shrug it off and keep going!! Now, the mental portion is on Mon!! I just want to say a HUGE Thank you to everyone here!!!

He should have a copy of your medical records DDS sent him. That might explain why he did not request a x-ray. He may not have thought your knee is severe enough and that is why he didn't request x-rays. No way of knowing at this point. Good Luck Monday !

Weird comment. Maybe he's seen or treated a lot of people who have been denied and was trying to make you feel better in case you get denied not to be discouraged? BTW, the CE doctor doesn't dictate whether you're approved or not. They just provide a snapshot in time of how you're functioning to the adjudicator and medical consultant at DDS who are the ones who actually make the determination.

This reminds me of an interview I went on when I was looking for work after college. I had been on several interviews for different companies and had one offer but had turned it down. I "passed" the phone interview and other screening tools for another company and finally had my face to face interview with two managers there. I thought the face-to-face interview went well and one of the interviewers walked me down the stairwell back to the ground floor so I could exit. I think he was trying to make small talk or something and he said something like, "How is it out there?", or "It must be really tough out there" and "I'm glad I'm not out there looking for work right now". Job market was a bit tougher back then but not totally awful. For the next 2-3 weeks I couldn't stop wondering if he was trying to signal something to me...like he wished me well because I was probably not going to get this job but he hoped I would get another one so keep my head up? I went over all sorts of possibilities in my mind. But, now that I think about it, if he had been totally silent on the walk down the stairwell, I would have taken that as an even worse sign  :Main19:

BTW, I did get the job in the end. I didn't work under him or in his or the other interviewer's department though. They just got the job of doing interviews that day and he probably was just making small talk in the stairwell. You'd think they'd let the two people leading the dept I worked in help select candidates, but no. I think they had some input but didn't do any interviews as far as I know.

Hello all, I haven't posted in a while, got alot going on.  I did have the mental portion on the 11th and haven't heard anything yet.  He asked me very strange questions like " how would you treat a simple cut on your finger"?, Spell the word WORLD and spell it backwards, what's 15x3, the ABC's, then went into my childhood and asked how I got there, it was just strange. I received an eviction notice and sent a copy to my attorney.  They sent in a "dire need" letter and haven't heard anything back yet.  Any chance anyone know about how much longer this can take? I know that's a stupid question but I'm drowning here, both in depression and physically, financially.  I'm at 90% on the SSA website if that means anything to anyone.  I filed in July of 2021..just, ughh

The questions actually sound pretty standard/"normal" for a mental CE.

I think CE doctors have 30 days to send their reports in to DDS, but I'm not 100% sure about that. And then DDS still has to make the determination. So hopefully you're nearing the end of the process. I got my initial denial about 2 weeks after attending my mental CE.

FWIW, I don't think you will hear anything back in the mail about being classified as dire need. You'll likely be classified as dire need but I don't think you get a special letter or notice about it. Someone please correct me if I'm getting this wrong. And I'm not sure how much it speeds stuff up at this stage but it certainly can't hurt.

Best of luck to you and keep us updated if you're able.  :Main18:
