exactly. you would have to reach stage 5 kidney disease in order for it to be considered kidney failure, meaning that your eGFR would have to reach 15% or lower

FWIW, I was approved for SSDI with eGFR of 18 (no Dialysis) in July 2020. 
My SSA Form 831 lists the Primary Diagnosis as CKD.
Currently, I'm stable but deal with the effects of "screwed up" blood within me.
