I have been battling for my benefits since 2016. I have been denied every time, since. My most recent claim was filed in August 2020 and it's the first initial filing since being denied at the hearing level. So I'm not new to the claims process and the vague status updates. I understand that it's hard to read into the system and to wait until I have a physical letter in my hand, but still. I was sent to a psych CE last Friday, which went great. I was told by the psychologist that she was writing a fully supportive report but the following Monday, my status online changed to medical decision made. Seems too fast for an approval, IMO. Almost like my DDS examiner just sent me to a CE to cover their bases for denial.
So what's new about this time is that my claim status is different each way I look at it. Online, my status says that DDS completed my medical review on 3/29 and that my field office started a final review to make sure that I still meet the non-medical requirements.
When I call in, the automated system says that DDS is still processing my claim. Weird.
When I speak to a human, they tell me that my case is closed and that I should receive something in the mail in about 20 days.
I've never had 3 different statuses and it's throwing me off. Online, the estimated benefits field is still not available and the "request a letter of verification" section still says I'm not receiving benefits.
This is all just really confusing and their update to the appearance of mySSA is completely throwing me off because why would they start a final review to make sure I still meet the non-medical requirements AFTER a medical decision has been made? It makes me think that I was approved medically but I've seen a couple other people with that same status on reddit and they ended up receiving denials.
I know it will most likely be denied but why does my case have 3 different statuses? I know nobody can really answer that and this is mostly a rant but, wtf SSA? It's like they get off on leaving people in the dark. For all of my previous claims, mySSA will say I was denied but this time it's giving me a little glimmer of hope that it doesn't say denied [yet].
So I guess what I'm asking here is if anyone has had this medical decision status stuck on their mySSA but ended up getting an approval in the mail?
