I respectfully disagree on several points.
First when the Republicans forced Clinton to end permanent welfare in the 90's, that put many of the poor in harder positions because now they have to wait for SSI payments instead of getting immediate welfare payments.
Secondly I understand that middle class who are disabled are facing foreclosures while waiting, but that has nothing to do with the poor applying for SSI and the burden of blame should not fall on them. The system is designed to help those most in need, and the poor face tougher conditions in poverty.
200 in food stamps a month, the HUD housing has a waiting list of many years, so a homeless disabled person is certainly in more dire need for payments.
This circumstance should not direct class warfare at the middle class against the poor, but at the rich against everyone else. If Republican's stop starving the government agencies of funding to save taxpayer money , there would be many more workers to expedite disability claims of both Middle Class and Poor applicants.
