Website says they're still doing the medical portion review. However, benefit verification letter just has my date of birth, but I noticed the reference number changed from "A" to "DI". I only applied for SSDI, not SSI. Any ideas on what this could mean?

This happended to me also and I am wondering this same exact question? Except I am also filing for SSI. I'm hoping someone can shed light on this? And also my bnc # is random numbers not my SS number. But only date of birth on the letter no amounts.

Yeah I do know for certain that the BNC is basically just a random identifying assortment of numbers that they use on documents so they don't have to actually put your real social security number on the documents, I'm assuming for some type of safety reasons.

Still don't know about the "DI" for the "ref" part.

Did this just change for you this weekend too?

Yes from my understanding about the bnc number is to prevent identity theft. But Yes I noticed the change last night. Iam at the initial stage and just finished a couple CE exams. From what I've read on the SSA site. It could mean disability insurance or disabled individual. When did your change take place? I was ref A before, too.

Mine happened 2 nights ago I believe? I check the website so often haha. I'm also at the initial stage. How long ago did you finish the CE exams?

I guess I'm just looking for a sign that will help me feel more at ease.

Lol I'm with you. I check every morning. Looking for anything to give me hope. This is actually my second time applying, last time I went all the way to a ALJ hearing but my evidence and records were not that well documented. But I finished my last CE on the 12th of this month, and what struck me as odd is that the CE exams were not related to my disability!?! Other things I didn't claim. Idk but good luck to you!! Hoping for some food news soon.

So strange. What were they supposed to see you for?  What did they actually do it for?

Yeah that's what I thought too, They sent me for 2 xrays of my lower back and a physical Exam. But I am filing for mental issues that I've had since the 90s. 2020 put it in kick drive!! GL to you, keep us updated.

It’s DI not D1, I think I found it, it means disabled individual. Just didn’t know why it was from A to DI
