Just a bit of an update and info I hope that can help someone else: My husband applied on October 29, 2020. He has a list of impairments that should qualify him

It sounds like you got caught by the glitch.

Try posting again but avoid any apostrophes or quotation marks.

Oh no, I forgot about that. Here goes the rest..My husband applied for the first time on October 29, 2020. As of October 14th, a decision was made and sent to Quality Review. We spoke with a 1 800 rep to find that out. She stated that a decision was made and the case was sent to our local office. But she caught herself, rechecked and stated that its in quality review and it might be a couple of weeks. We are preparing for the worst, but hoping for the best. I hope this info helps someone else. The smallest of details can be a lifesaver. I will update, again.

To note, I know it's a long time, it took 2 years for me to get my initial decision.  I know it's such a long process, I was denied, denied in reconsideration, and now have a ALJ hearing in a couple of weeks.   My conditions qualify as well but keep hope and if it's a denial hire a lawyer right away to help guide the process.

Hopefully that decision goes through quickly and you don't have to appeal.

Starfire62, I hope third time is a charm for you. The wait is brutal, but we have remained patient while hoping for the best. We were referred to an attorney by a family friend, so we are prepared. Medical records on hand and up to date. Its been rough. Almost lost my husband in October 2020 on the surgery table for 5 mins and the docs worked hard to bring him back. Even if we don

Oh no!  I am so sorry to hear that.   Prayers your way and I hope it's an approval and you can take a deep breath.   If it helps, I think I received my letter that you are waiting for about 2-3 weeks after it moved into the review stage after the initial decision was made.

I hope it's an approval right away.   *hugs*

Are you still waiting for your first decision?  1 year is a long time for an Initial decision.

Helper, yes we are waiting on the initial decision. It has been the longest year ever. His case has been handled by two case workers. The first one was promoted. I assume that may explain the wait and perhaps the reason why quality review has the case right now. Not sure, just speculation. But, we are glad that the wait is almost over.

Cut off

Sorry your post got cut off due to "the glitch".

Getting selected for quality review is generally a good sign but you never know until the determination is final.

Newdawn, its alright. I gotta conquer the glitch. Lol

If he gets an approval this first go round, we would be so grateful. The 1 800 Rep sounded so excited when she provided the status. I am convinced that they all know my husband at this point. He is consistent and tenacious, calling once a week. Its a long shot, but an approval would be wonderful. Also, I meant to say that the status on the myssa website says nothing about quality review. It still says the application process is on step 3 and 90 percent complete.

Thank you for sharing your experience. I'm glad you didn't lose your husband and I'm sorry you both went through that.

DepressedGuessed, thank you for the kind words.

Just a little update here, my husband called the local SSA office today to add new banking info and the representative stated that there is a preliminary approval, but QR still has the case and to allow up to 20 more days. The rep also stated that someone with SSI would be calling any day now. I assume it

Just speculation, tho. Stay tuned as the world of DDS turns. Lol.

UPDATE, QR is complete and final decision is an approval. Just found out a few minutes ago. Case is being sent for payment. I am in shock. Initial application, almost one year waiting time
