Air Fryer newbie
« on: March 29, 2022, 12:26:09 am »
Hey, I just got my first air fryer and I need some tips on using it. Am I supposed to put anything on the food to make it crunchier? Some things like french fries and fish sticks come out pretty good but an air fried porkchop attempt failed miserably. I was going to try some other fresh meats, but I am hesitant now. Any help or maybe a recipe would be great. LoveYou!

Nott knowing the brand or capacity it's kind of hard to give a lot of tips but there are a few things I have found helpful with mine (6 Qt Power XL)

1) Preheat the fryer for about five (5) minutes before your put the food in.
2) Cooking sprays like PAM does a really good job of making things crispy.
3) I have no idea how to get a skinless protein crispy.
4) Breads in my experience has been a disaster as the swirling air shaves the bread.
5)You can use parchment paper in the fryer as long as it is folded and placed in the basket so that no paper is sticking up(fire risk.) Also check the box for the paper to see it's temperature limit.
6) I don't know if you can use aluminum foil.
7) A lot of products are now printing air fryer directions on their packaging.

These links my be of help for you. Enjoy and just know there will be some trial and error.

PowerXL 8-Quart and these tips you gave me are awesome. I was actually thinking about that Pam cooking spray because, if I remember correctly, comes in a butter flavored? I am headed to check out those links you posted. I never would have thought that some products do give air fryer cooking directions. I am going to try the aluminum foil when I use the fryer. Not in the fryer but on my head. I will let you know how it turns out :)

Thank you so much ktm2163. LoveYou!

I got one a week ago. So many models and combo types of air fryers though.
I've used a coating of vegetable oil to help brown the outsides.
Dab it on with a paper towel wet with the oil.
Maybe spray with PAM would do as well.
The model I got has heating elements near the top and can be used to broil.
