Does this mean that I am approved?
« on: November 19, 2010, 04:35:25 pm »
Hello,
My mother called the DDS office to check my case status this afternoon ( I was too nervous). Instead of speaking to the specialist handling my case, she spoke to the next representative. My mother was told that everything has been done and I should hear something next week. I couldn't stand it, so I checked on line and it still said that no decision has been made. Of course I had no choice but to call the 800#. The only that I was told was that a decision had been made on 10/16 but she did not know what it was. Right, they are killing me! I watched the clock and debated, I decided to call the local office (I know I'm a pest). The lady that I spoke to said that the case was still at the DDS, no decision made. You guessed it, I looked at the clock and made a decision, call my specialist at DDS. It was 4:30 and I knew if I didn't get her, I would be sick with anxiety and worry all weekend. Well, she answered and like the moron I am I asked the wrong question. "When will my case be released for me to get a notice?" I'm an idiot! She said, "The doctors already approved it, we're just waiting to get it back so we can close it. So you should probably receive  something next week." I thanked her and hung up. After I hung up I was baffled. My anxiety causes me to dissect everything. Did this just mean that the doctors have approved the case to be closed or that they approved my disability and now the case can be closed? Will you guys please help me?

Hi with2 and welcome to the site,
I have to start by applauding your persistence.  That took a lot of courage and I have always said that no one cares more about your case then you do.  If you don't follow up and make sure things are done properly, no one else will.

As for what the specialist said, unfortunately I agree with you.  It can be interpreted either way.  I always want to lean towards the best possible outcome but prepare for the worst just in case.  All we can do is cross our fingers and check the mail box at this point.  I hope you get a positive answer very soon and I wish I could tell you something more concrete but I will be waiting to hear back from you and crossing my fingers.

Thank you both for taking the time to respond. I feel like such an idiot. I wish I would have just spoken up when I had her on the phone! Honestly I want to believe that she wouldn't have used the actual word "approved" if the decision wasn't favorable. I have no choice but to wait and eat! Good thing it's a good season for eating! LOL

with2,
I would highly suggest the "better than sex cake" which can be found here:  http://ssdfacts.com/forum/index.php?topic=1175.0 .  That cake will take your mind off of ANYTHING!

Its been said many times and many ways-Hope for the best and expect the worst. My adjudicator would not say my claim had been approved or denied and I had my approval in my hand. My adjudicator asked me when did I receive notice and my reply was a month ago. I believe that if a state adjudicator was working on his or her Mothers claim his or her own Mother would not know. Please don't feel that you could have done anymore than you did. You did the most courageous thing any claimant could do. I am sure other members as well as myself are thinking positive and hoping for a good outcome.
