New diagnosis
« on: April 05, 2020, 07:02:49 am »
Hello all, it’s been awhile since I’ve posted but I haven’t been feeling well lately. I recently was diagnosed with Lupus and Rheumatoid arthritis. I started new meds to treat it but awaiting appointment with Rheumatologist. Can anyone with this diagnosis give me coping types?

I have both of those, and it took awhile to get meds that worked. I'm currently on a once-a-week injection of Orencia for RA. I enrolled in a patience assistance program to get the medicine for free.
I also take Ambien to help me sleep, and Tramadol during the day for pain.
Stress will trigger a lupus flare-up, and eating healthy does help. I try to not eat junk food, and it helps.
I'm glad you're seeing a rheumotologist. Mine is great!

Thank you Tahoequeen21 I am currently taking methotrexate, prednisone, and folic acid to treat Lupus and RA and I take Norco 7.5. I can’t take Tramadol. My markers were in the thousands and I’m still having flare ups. I have been eating healthier and I lost 12 pounds so far. My body just hurts so badly that it brings me to tears.

I take prednisone also. I totally understand what you're going through.
Meditation also helps me. Get lots of rest. I try to take a nap daily which helps too. When I first got diagnosed, I lost 40 lbs in about 6 months. That's when I knew something was wrong.

Some patient assistance programs do not offer assistance to those on Medicare. You might want to.inform them when your Medicare kicks in. If not, you will have to let them know when it is time to renew with the patient assistance program. Hopefully you will be approved for MSP and receive help with your co/pays, deductibles and monthly premiums.
