aid and attendance questions
« on: March 25, 2013, 10:48:02 pm »
I am rated at 90% for various stomach problems and 50% for major depression.  Can I apply for my wife to get it with my ailments I listed above??  Why or why not??  Lastly if I can apply am I then allowing the VA to re-open my file and possibly decrease my benefits??  Thanks for sharing your knowledge

Hopefully someone will come along who can answer that for you Mike, but there is another forum with subject matter experts that could probably help you quickly and easily.  PM me for the link.

Mike is a veteran who is receiving service connected disability.  There is a program called aid and attendance that provides additional funds to veterans who are house bound and require home care (aid and attendance) for performance of activities of daily living.  It is unlikely anyone here will be able to weigh in with authority, so I encouraged him to PM me for the link to a military disability forum with subject matter experts more suited to answer his question.

Great, I was lost on the question so perhaps that site can help him.  Is it the yuku one?

Perhaps send a PM.  Sometimes when someone is new to the forum they get confused on how to find their posts again.

You can apply, but you're right it's always risky to apply for an increase because they might request another C and P exam to see if your depression has improved. If you are continuing to receive treatment though it shouldn't be a problem.
