I am Ex USAF 1996-1998 with a medical discharge. I was Civil engineering and Prime BEEF. I recently started my VA claim back up(last Aug) and am still at 0% because they said it wasnt service connected even though all the records say it was and was diagnosed as a lower lumbar starin instead of Spondylosis w/DDD. I am continuing that battle with the VA and we will be starting my wifes soon. She was in from 1999-2005 active duty USAF and 05-09 USAF reserves.  I think she will have more luck than I will as she had two tours in Afghanistan and her items are well documented.

Going from 10% to 100% tells a whole lot about the system....glad you fought it!

I didn't see this...so now its my turn.  I served for 4 years in the Navy as and AME(Aviation Mechanic Egress), and was honorably discharged in Aug'09.  I had filed for a 1 year extension, but things when crumbling downhill so I had to pull my one year extension.  A few months after I was discharge I was put in a mental va hospital.  They helped me with my va claim and now i have a 50% rating

I found this forum by accident but now I believe it was fate.

I retired from the Army in 2007 and was rated initially at 80% for VA purposes. I worked for CSX railroad in Nashville for 4 1/2 years but after my Service Connected disabilities getting the better of me I voluntarily terminated my employment in August 2011. I then applied for a rating increase through the DAV in August 2011 got my decision letter in the mail July 2012 rated at 100%.

Just received a letter in the mail from the Social Security ALJ informing me that I was found FULLY FAVORABLE. Now just waiting for pay and finally peace of mind!

Have you attempted to file for Agent Orange Exposure? The Gulf of Tonkin Region was designated by the VA to be eligible for filing a claim. Go to this website for more information. It may also be part of your Social Security Claim too!

I served 17.6 years in the Marine Corps. I was put on temporary disability retirement list (tdrl) in 1997 and I was put n permanent disability retirement list in 2002. I have a 50% rating from the VA and I qualified for Chapter 21. My disability rating does not include my back problems because they diagnosed my foot pain as arthritis.
